Introduction Post
Hello, my name is Musa Mudassar. I am an A2 student studying in Westminster. This blog serves as the platform on which I will present the undertaking of creating my final project, a music video, alongside my journey towards reaching the position in making it. While I am presented with the opportunity to create a traditional music video incorporating styles and elements of Qawwali Pakistani music, I do not believe I will go down this route. A famous singer asked me to make such a video for him but to be honest, I believe I excel more in indie style videos. Quick cuts, metaphorical props, an almost "unprofessional" video, I believe I resonate more with this style and thus will most likely go down this route.
A bit about myself, I am something of an all-rounder. In college people know me best for sports, for being the kid outside all day playing and the only person starting on both the volleyball and basketball team, having won over 10 trophies this year. As a result, my 2A*s and 6As in IGCSE and AAB in AS confuse a lot of people since most of them never see me study. Even more confusing to them is the fact that I am a very skilled photographer, having picked up a DSLR for the first time three years ago. It's weird to them that the sports kid also knows everything to do with ISO, F-stop, shutters and lenses, and that I have been approached by companies for advertisements and recordings (obviously for a much discounted price).
To be honest, for the longest time I assumed I would just follow down this route. Side gigs and freelancing throughout my undergrad, studying a communications degree until I land a job at an entertainment company. Now I'm not so sure, but I would not say that my passion for media has been quenched. I suppose as I've grown, the role of photographer boy has stayed too small for me, and I've found myself in front of the camera far more than behind it. Nevertheless, it is still my favourite form of expression, its techniques and skills so far and away modern as compared to other arts. Media still has me captivated. When I see a beautiful landscape and wish to take a photo, the first thought in my mind is still my exposure. Taking videos I still always check to make sure my phone is set to 1080p before I burn through all my storage. Every once in a while I boot up lightroom and laugh at my older projects. Thus, I am most excited to record a music video and bring a vision to life... although I do understand that as it is one of my first times, I likely won't have the expertise to bring together the most perfect vision I can imagine. However, that is never a reason to not do something!
